On Friday, September 30th, [adult swim] plans to close off full episodes to the general public as you need to be subscribed with a cable or satellite provider in order to gain access to Gold Episodes. If you have one of those (currently, with the exception of... oddly enough... Time Warner.) you don't need to worry. If you're not subscribed with cable or satellite... well... let's be honest, you know where you can get episodes anyway.


The upside on this that I've noticed thusfar is the fact that we no longer have to wait a week for new episodes, as this past week's episodes for both Squidbillies and NTSF:SD:SUV are available on Gold. 200+ episodes of [adult swim] programming both past and present will be made available on .com as well as on both [as] apps for iPhone and iPad.

The Odd Future pilot has been picked up for a full series, entitled Loiter Squad. The live action show will be in the usual Adult Swim show format (quarter hour/15-minute episodes), and will include sketches, pranks, man-on-the-street segments, and music from OFWGKTA.

The group has worked with Adult Swim talent in the past: they released a short starring NTSF:SD:SUV's Paul Scheer earlier this year on Funny or Die. And they also are no strangers to comedy shorts or skits: they will occasionally post some on their blog.

The show is being produced by Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze's Dickhouse Entertainment, which was also behind a plethora of popular MTV series such as Jackass, Wildboyz, and Rob & Big. Adult Swim's Nick Weidenfeld will also produce.

This news comes soon after Tyler the Creator's win for Best New Artist at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Tyler released his second album Goblin on XL Recordings earlier in the year, which included the single Yonkers, also nominated for a VMA. The group also has had their member Frank Ocean gain popularity with guest parts on albums such as Jay-Z and Kanye West's collaborative album Watch The Throne and OF's Hodgy Beats and Left Brain, known together as MellowHype, recently had their album BlackenedWhite rerelased by Fat Possum Records. The group will also be releasing a book in November entitled Golf Wang.

The show will hit the Adult Swim airwaves in 2012 (although if we know this network it could come a bit earlier or way, way, waaaay later) so be on the lookout for Odd Future to hit your TV.

New shows announced at the upfront include:
The crime-drama parody NTSF:SD:SUV, created by Paul Scheer and previewed between season one episodes of Childrens Hospital. (Summer, 2011)

A previously unannounced soap opera parody called The Heart, She Holler produced by PFFR and starring Patton Oswalt. (Fall, 2011)

China, Il., based on old Brad Neely shorts from Super Deluxe (which can still be found in the video section at adultswim.com), executive produced by Neely and produced by Titmouse Studios. (Fall, 2011)

The fifteen-minute Venture Bros. Special, From the Ladle to the Grave: The Story of Shallow Gravy, also produced by Titmouse Studios, now revealed to be a documentary-style investigation of Hank, Dermott, and HELPeR's band "Shallow Gravy." (July 24, 2011)

Tight Bros., a parody of guido culture, following two brothers who sell religious trinkets in a strip mall kiosk by day and "tear up the club" by night. (Spring 2012)

And the much anticipated Black Dynamite cartoon, which, like the movie it is derived from, is a comical spoof of '70s blaxsploitation films. Like the movie, it will feature Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minns and it will be produced by Ars Nova Entertainment. (Spring 2012)
